We finally have time blocked off to use the 4th floor studio. Our blocked time is from 2pm to 3pm on Tuesday. Glen will be helping us with the lighting but he said only a small amount of smoke (like incense), no smoke machine. Is that time ok for everyone? If not I can try to email him and change it.

Smoke cannon
Saturday, February 5, 2011
OK so here's the homework my section was asked to post on the blog. It's the 12 principles of animation and how they apply to our project. Feel free to edit, add, or expand.
1. Squash and Stretch- As a puff of smoke ascends toward the camera, the stream will narrow to emphasis speed and proximity
2. Anticipation- the use of semi-repetition in smoke patterns will create this
3. Follow Through and Overlapping Action- the action of the smoke patterns will overlap. The smoke will follow through naturally.
4. Arcs- The melody will be partially be represented by arching smoke
5. Slow In and Out - this could be incorporated into the entrance and exit of the smoke on and off the screen or to emphasize the development of the smoke as it takes on shapes
6. Timing- this will be mainly dictated by the layers in the sound
7. Secondary Action- the smoke will be the secondary action when it is disturbed by air to create desired shapes
8. Exaggeration- the manipulation of time could exaggerate the movement of the smoke
9. Staging- due to the organic flow of smoke, this principle may not be integrated
10. Pose to Pose- " "
11. Solid Drawing- Each frame will show a dynamic, swirly, display of smoke and marbling
12. Appeal- the veil of smoke revealing intricate marbling will be visually appealing to the audience
